MICHAEL JORDAN

Michael Jeffrey Jordan  born on February 17, 1963 , who is popularly known as "His Airness" and "Air Jordan" or by his initials "‌MJ”, is an American former basketball player, entrepreneur, and principal owner and chairman of the Charlotte Hornets.  He is widely considered as the greatest player of all time. For quite a long time ball fans have contended over who is the best player ever. Players like Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are among the players who ring a bell. Notwithstanding, the one player who characterized significance was Michael Jordan. He is hailed as not only the greatest basketball player of all time , but also one of the greatest athletes to ever compete in any sport. He represents greatness itself and he is an icon of hard work and resilience. When a high school Michael Jordan was dropped from the varsity team for not being good enough , nobody could have ever imagined that he was going to turn himself into the greatest player ever to play the sport with his immense passion and hard work. With him , not only the Chicago Bulls became 6 time NBA champions , but the game itself gained worldwide attention due to his great athleticism and play style. No one to date has ever showed the skill and dominance in the game as him. He just stood out from the rest. In the words of Magic Johnson of the LA Lakers  : "There is Michael Jordan , and then there is the rest of us" . To this date nobody could match his achievements , and the world believes no one ever could. Not Lebron James and not Kobe Bryant. He was just a far superior player in his prime than the rest. People argue that Lebron James could have been a better player in the era where Jordan played forgetting that this was the era when actual defense was played and hand checking used to be legal , and the tendency of the game was finishing at the rim or shooting from the midrange against a more aggressive defense than there is today , rather than shooting 3 pointers from far away. On an average , teams used to attempt only ten 3 pointers before the 1980s and then it  gradually increased to the point where the modern NBA teams attempt almost thirty  3 pointers per game. The era where Jordan played was much more tough to score in. And still Jordan managed to have a career average of a mind blowing 30 points per game. There is no doubt that teams have started to score more than before since the defence is not as aggressive as it used to be , and 3 point attempts are way more than before. But still in this modern NBA , averaging 30 points per game is something a very few All-Stars can do.

‌Kobe Bryant who is the nearest player to Michael Jordan by skill , once scored 81 points in a game and had a 60 point game at the day of his retirement. He is a 5 time NBA champion and his name is among the all time greats. Even Kobe , an NBA legend ,  saw MJ as his mentor and Kobe wanted his game to be as flawless and as dominant as Jordan's. Even Michael Jordan admitted that he may lose a game of one on one only to Kobe Bryant , because he copies his moves.  There is a reason Kobe Bryant saw Michael Jordan as his role model his entire career. Now coming to Michael Jordan's untouched accomplishments we start from his game winner shot in the NCAA championship final that made University of North Carolina champions.
